The Pond at Lost Valley
This small watercolor study is partly wishful thinking. I have never seen a trout jump out of the water like that. The pond does have huge neutered carp that we introduced years ago as small fry to keep down the underwater growth, not to mention lots and lots of smaller swimmers like sunfish and turtles tadpoles. Here is where my Akita pups learned to swim and where my son and his friends played and generally horsed around in the summer. In the evening it is not unusual to see Kingfishers and Blue Herons lurking in the trees.
