The Falls at Olmstead’s Island in the evening
You can get to this point by hiking on the C&O Canal along the Potomac River on the Maryland side. These rushing waters are on your right as you cross the little bridge from the mainland onto Olmstead’s Island. I have painted this part of the Potomac countless times and in all sorts of media. I am proud of the fact that two large oil paintings of this same scene, made in different seasons and at different times of day, were purchased as soon as they were finished and are part of the special collections of two very wonderful art patrons.
