Olmstead’s Island Chiaroscuro
This painting won the “Best in Show” award at the Journeys in Art MCAA Juried Members Exhibition, WSSC Building, Laurel, Maryland, in July 1997. It depicts the branch of the Potomac that flows east of Olmstead’s Island and that can be seen from the pedestrian bridge to the island from the C&O Canal footpath. It is a favorite destination of recreational walkers in the greater Washington, D.C., area. The painting is now in the collection of Maestro Ichiro Masatoshi Mitsumoto and Lorene S. Sarne, of Rockville, Maryland, who acquired it in 2000.
