Koi
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Koi come in many colors and color combinations, the most popular seem to be the golden ones. Koi are a favorite theme of Chinese brush painting and of Sumi (Japanese) art. My painting combines some principles of Chinese design (circularity and balance of form and space) with my current passion for golden grounds and iconic images. One fishing enthusiast I know saw this painting and commissioned an equally large painting, but of a school of brook trout instead. I forgot to photograph that one, alas!
